TC25 Heat-Resistant Titanium Alloy

TC25 is a Chinese α+β heat-resistant titanium alloy of nominal composition Ti-6.5Al-2Zr-2Sn-2Mo-1W-0.2Si. It combines high strength, good corrosion resistance and excellent elevated-temperature stability for long-term service at 500–550 °C, and is used for high-pressure compressor discs and other hot-section components.

Overview

  • Material: TC25 — Ti-6.5Al-2Zr-2Sn-2Mo-1W-Si heat-resistant titanium
  • Available forms: Bar, plate, forgings and custom profiles

Key Features

  • High strength for heavily loaded service;
  • Good corrosion resistance in many environments;
  • Low density for weight reduction;
  • Good elevated-temperature performance at 500–550 °C;
  • Good biocompatibility for medical use.

Fabrication & Heat Treatment

  • Melting: typically triple VAR melting for uniform composition.
  • Hot working: hot rolled, forged and extruded for good plasticity and dimensional control.
  • Cold working: relatively difficult; cold rolling, drawing and forging possible for surface finish / section control.
  • Machining: turning, milling and drilling with suitable tooling.
  • Chemical / electrochemical machining: electrochemical shaping and chemical etching for fine features.
  • Solution treatment: 850–950 °C to dissolve alloy elements and improve ductility.
  • Ageing: 400–550 °C to precipitate strengthening phases and tune hardness / strength.
  • Annealing: relieves stress and refines structure.

Typical Applications

  • Aerospace: high-pressure compressor discs and other critical aero-engine parts;
  • Energy: high-temperature components in petrochemical equipment and nuclear reactors;
  • Medical: artificial joints and implants.

Notes

Higher production cost; relatively difficult cold working; tends to oxidise at high temperature; strengthening-phase fraction limits some ultra-high-strength applications.
