GH3030 (GH30) Nickel-Based Alloy

GH3030 (also designated GH30) is a Chinese nickel-chromium solid-solution strengthened alloy with small titanium additions. It offers good oxidation resistance, stable microstructure and excellent formability, and is widely used for aero-engine combustor and afterburner components, chemical equipment, and high-temperature parts below about 800 °C (oxidation-resistant parts up to 1100 °C where loading is low).

Overview

  • Material designation: GH3030 (GH30)
  • Type: Ni-Cr solid-solution strengthened alloy
  • Close equivalents: ÉI435 (ЗИ435), KhN78T (XH78T) — Russian grades
  • Available forms: Bar, plate, sheet, tube, wire (including welding wire), ring blanks and forgings

Oxidation Resistance

  • Good oxidation resistance in air over a range of temperatures;
  • Specific oxidation-rate values are not stated on the source page; please confirm against the mill certificate.

Microstructure

  • After solution treatment at 1000 °C: single-phase austenite with small amounts of TiC and Ti(CN) precipitates.

Fabrication

  • Hot working: good forgeability; forging heating temperature 1180 °C, finish-forging at 900 °C. Average grain size is closely related to deformation degree and finish-forging temperature.

Heat Treatment & Supply Condition

  • Solution treatment: 980–1020 °C. Hot-rolled plate, cold-rolled sheet and ring blanks: air cool; cold-heading wire and cold-drawn bar: water cool or air cool; tube: water cool;
  • Bar and ring blanks are delivered without heat treatment; hot-rolled plate, cold-rolled sheet and tube are supplied solution-treated and pickled; welding wire is supplied in various conditions to order.

Typical Applications

  • Aero-engine combustor and afterburner components, and casing mounting flanges;
  • Turbine-engine combustor parts operating below 800 °C;
  • High-temperature parts below 1100 °C requiring oxidation resistance but carrying little load;
  • Chemical equipment and components;
  • Aerospace, petrochemical, nuclear and steam-turbine applications.
